POTTER/PUTTER?
POTTER/PUTTER?
I was reading something, this morning, about a man who heard a noise in his back yard and assumed it was his neighbor “pottering” around on the other side of the fence. That was a new one, for me. I have only ever “puttered”. In fact, it is one of my favourite pastimes. I putter in the kitchen, the garden, my workshop. I look forward to retirement, when I can take up puttering full-time. The only pottering I’ve ever done was when I took a course in throwing clay. Is “pottering” (in the pleasant, trivial work sense) more common where you are? Do you potter or putter?

Re: POTTER/PUTTER?
My dictionary puts putter as a US equivalent of potter. We potter.
P.S. how do you pronounce "putter".
