Run a red light

Post by Stevenloan » Thu Nov 19, 2020 4:30 pm

- Hi guys! I drive through a green light but a man suddenly runs a red light and he brakes hard and almost hits my car. I get furious and want to say something to him. Which question below fits better in this context?

1. Do you want to die?
2. Are you sick of death?

Your answers will be greatly appreciated.

#1 might be taken as a threat and #2 doesn't really make any sense...I'd probably just consider myself lucky and drive on or give him the "palms up" gesture, which (around here) means "what the fuck were you thinking?"

I think Steven probably meant to write "are you sick of life?" in 2.

I think it would be more normal to say "are you tired of life?" or "are you tired of living?", and that could well be appropriate in such a situation.

For me, I would probably drive up the road a little, then stop and light up a pipe and think of all the things I should have said...

Me too - except for the pipe. I have had 2 memorable experiences of having to dodge idiots who ran red lights. I remember being so surprised that I was a better driver than I thought!
