Drool

Hi guys! My mother has just finished baking an apple pie and she is taking it out of the oven, when I see the pie, the saliva in my mouth wants to go out because the pie looks so tasty. Which sentence below used correctly in this situation?

1. Looking at the pie makes my mouth water.
2. Looking at the pie makes me drool.

Your answers will be highly appreciated.

"Makes my mouth water" would be my choice. "Drool" has a bit of a negative hint to it. When I think "drool", I think of a dog and imagine the saliva actually running out of its mouth. Dogs drool, babies drool, people with dementia or other neurological disorders might drool. Try Googling "slobber" (which I equate with "drool") and see if that still fits what you are trying to say.
