- Hi everyone! I don't get the meaning of "Don't trade your authenticity for approval.". Does it mean "You don't need other people to approve of what you say or do is true or correct."?

Thanks so much!

It is another way of saying (approximately) "Don't compromise your integrity in order to gain the approval of others."

A worthy enough objective, I suppose, but the exhortation's particular relevance to introverts escapes me.

The meme's photo depicts a busking cello player who has established his pitch in a near-deserted tunnel (and the sole other person in the tunnel is walking along it on the opposite side, as though she is seeking to stay as far away from him as she can).

It's not clear in what way this represents "authenticity", except insofar as the player's inability to choose a more promising spot suggests genuineness of stupidity.

I suppose you could assume he's playing for the sheer joy of making music & not worrying if anyone else likes it. Tho that picture reminds me of the time I was in a similar situation, but with a lot more people around. We were all walking as far away from the musician as possible - not because he was bad, he was actually pretty good (tho the acoustics were awful) - but I think most people just didn't want to toss money into his guitar case.

I don't understand the reference to introverts either.
