Thanks Woz and Phil! While I use Google extensively, I've compared it with Alltheweb; which seems to do about the same kind of thing but is harder to use; eg, it doesn't have word buttons. Alta Vista looks a lot like the former; but it would take months or years to make a valid comparison. Woz, if you ever find that list....

Dale a few sites that might help >>

http://juliet.stfx.ca/~x94emj/searchen.htm

.. or do as I did and enter "compare search engines" into Google .. *wonders* ...... now is there a word that describes something that you use to compare itself to other examples of itself ........ *wanders off thinking* .......

gut soup

I have heard the expression "gut soup" a few times here in australia, predominantly used by barfly males aged 30-50. i have never heard a child or adolescent use the term and i'm sure it is not a common "Aussie slang" expression. have not been able to find it in any of my books, therefore it is probably quite recent and more of a "family heritage" type expression. hope this helps!
