A: The food has gone bad. We should order takeout.
B: That’s a good idea.
- Is there an alternative to say instead of “the food has gone bad” in this case?
Thanks very much!

I like the phrase "gone south" - said especially of food that's been in the fridge long enough to turn into a science experiment.
