I was hit overseas

Post by Stevenloan » Tue Mar 24, 2020 10:04 am

Fox News: A U.S. Navy hospital ship with 800 staff on board is now en route to Los Angeles to help relieve the strain coronavirus is putting on the area’s hospital system.

Facebooker 1: I was evacuated to the Mercy when I was hit overseas. They are remarkable ships! I was in awe. A real floating hospital.

Facebooker 2: you know I have only of these ships via PBS and military channel..... they are so impressive ... wait hit overseas ? Yikes... thank you for serving....no words will ever due.

- Hi everyone! According to an online dictionary, “hit” has quite many meanings. Does “I was hit” in this situation mean “I was badly affected” or “I tested positive for coronavirus”?

Thanks a lot!

Facebooker 1 is referring to being wounded in battle. He was "hit" means he was shot or struck by shrapnel and transferred to the Mercy. Wiki says the Mercy served in the Persian Gulf for six months in 90/91 during the first Gulf war.
