A: I saw my brother's girlfriend kissing another guy on the cheek and they seemed close. I don't want to see my brother get hurt so I told my brother about this but he somehow turned this into blaming me.
B: Yeah. Sometimes doing the right thing stinks.

- Hi guys! I know the meaning of "stink" but what exactly does "Sometimes doing the right thing stinks" mean in this situation?

Thanks so much!

Steve, when you say you know the meaning of "stink", I suspect you are referring to an offensive smell. "Stink" is also often used to describe a thing or situation that is bad, unpleasant or unfortunate. It doesn't really have any smell to it but has a similar effect to a bad smell. B did the right thing by telling his brother but that resulted in a strain on their relationship...that stinks...that sucks...that's shitty...that hurts...
