Which are correct:

1) Take enough painkillers not to feel the pain.

2) Take enough painkillers so you won't feel pain.
3) Take enough painkillers so that you won't feel pain.
4) Take enough painkillers that you won't feel pain.

5) Take enough painkillers so you don't feel the pain.
6) Take enough painkillers so that you don't feel pain.
7) Take enough painkillers that you don't feel pain.

Which mean:
a) In order not to feel pain, take enough painkillers.
and which mean:
b) Take the amount of painkillers that will make you not feel pain.

I sort of feel there's a difference between 'a' and 'b'. In 'a', the 'enough' has been determined beforehand and the purpose of taking enough painkillers is to not feel pain. In 'b' the amount that is enough has to be determined later, probably by the patient himself.

Gratefully,
Navi
