Booze

The man in the conversation below usually drinks a lot, comes home and hits his wife. The cop sees him at a pub and the conversation goes like this:

The cop: Why did you hit your wife?
The man: What happens between a man and his woman behind closed doors is none of your damn business.
The cop: I can’t stop you from boozing your life away. You go home and put your hands on your wife again, I’m coming after you.

Hi you guys! I know the meaning of "booze", but could you please let me know what "booze one's life way" means in this situation?

Thanks very much!

He means that the thug thinks that drinking is all that he needs in life.
