Dear Muskegon,
For the origin of incarceration, you need to go back to the beginning of the sentence?
As an alternative, there is community service (or at least a service to the Wordwizard community) of looking in M-W on-line in order to witness the evidence?

I know where incarceration is. It is in the dictionary.

Now that you know where to find it, you can look it up and the etymology will usually include how old it is.
