- I am sure I will need to spell check this before the final version is printed out, i apologize in advance! This letter is to be put on my apartment building neighbor's car in the garage of our building.-

Dear Inconsiderate Male,
It has come to repeate attention that you continually park outside of your reserved level parking spot, to instead park in the parking that is for the Restaurants. Though it is fault of the management that the parking situation is a mess, it would be appreicated if you parked in your reserved spot so that patrons may park on this level. You should be thankful that you have a reserved spot and use it, or inform the management that you are interested in giving it up.

Dear Anonymous,

Essentially, you need to decide what you want to achieve with your letter.

If you mainly want to let off steam and heap abuse on your inconsiderate neighbour, you are on the right track. In fact, I would even suggest peppering a few additional insults throughout your prose, just to get things properly out of your system.

On the other hand, if the result you seek is a change in his behaviour, you would do well to avoid arming your letter with irony, humiliatng phrases or an obviously bossy tone. Put yourself in his position for a moment - how would you react to being told off by your neighbour as if you were only nine years old again?

In my view, your best bet would be to remain polite (addressing him by name would be a good start), explain the situation clearly without going overboard, tell him in concise terms about the effect his behaviour is having, and ask him to stop.

At this stage I would avoid any threats of reporting him to management or the like. First give him the chance to mend his ways of his own accord - he may have no idea of all the angst he has been causing.
