I remember reading in some travel literature that it's more sensible to recognise TWO seasons only in some parts of Australia - the WET and the DRY. Similarly, along one stretch of the Amazon, the division of the year into "major flood season", "minor flood season" and "no flood season" seems logical.

In Michigan, the two seasons of the year are winter and construction.

Here in Illinois, we're not quite that bad, Hans Joerg. We have all four seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction!

Speaking of Mr Beckham, in England there are two seasons - the Football Season, and the Cricket Season (June 1-3).
