Scrooge

Erik mentioning Dickens’ Christmas Carol put me onto a train of thought. Ask anyone if they know the story, and very few people will say that they don’t, me included, but last year I reread it after a great number of years, and made a discovery that I should have made the first time.

The gruel that Scrooge ate, was not his supper, it was left as a hot snack before bed because he had a head cold. Where had he had his supper? In the pub, and he had spent the whole evening there. So the whole experience probably had a lot to do with what happens to people when they spend a long evening in a pub! How did I miss that?
