Clearly Amos Milburn isn't as well known as John Lee Hooker, or George Thorogood (or probably several dozen others who have covered it.) Is it necessary to research a quote like that? I'm not finding fault, just asking a serious question.

Well if it's Amos Milburn, it's "Down the Road Apiece" for the hooch, but wasn't it Huddie Ledbetter that brought this one out first? I bow to other's informed opinion here!
As to the ""sauce" then the credit goes to Geo Thoro'.
But back to Nimo P....quotating...
"A stickler might propose "We spent the evening drinking Scottish whisky and American whiskey." But this sentence seems silly. After all, we are just dealing with variant spellings of the same word, not a different classification of alcoholic beverages."...if a stickler had spent the night doing this, then he would surely be far too "happy" to want to be bothered...p'robaly more occupied with getting "down the road" one piece.
Leading to Seasonal Cheer, and thus onto "cheers" all round.
Cheers!

Robert here.
I've just replied to this twice: first a long 20-minute jolly seasonal reaponse, then another quick one to check if all was OK...but neither have appeared.
Let me try this and I'll come back...
