US soccer coach

No, the U.S. Soccer coach doesn't seem worried about his own team's preparation. He doesn't ... Klinsmann expressed concern that Haimoudi will be able to better communicate with Belgium players while his team will face a language barrier.
.. this slur against the Algerian referee appointed by FIFA for the US v Algeria match shows a level of hypocrisy typical of the US approach to "foreign language speakers" ..
He’s able to speak French with their players on the field, not with us,” Klinsmann said of the referee.

.. of course it has totally escaped the wisdom of the US, admittedly German born, coach that all teams at the World Cup face this problem at some time or other .. what happens when a US referee refereed say Nigeria v Japan .. do they complain? .. or if an English speaking referee had been appointed to the US game should the Belgium coach rise up and complain .. no it is left to the good ol' US coach to raise the language barrier on behalf of his monolingual players .. poor dears ..
The language barrier does bring up an interesting point, with most of the Belgium team being able to communicate with Haimoudi in French, while Alejandro Bedoya is the only projected U.S. starter who speaks French, only having started learning the language after joining Ligue 1 side Nantes last summer.

.. now they have lost the match will the language problem have pride of place as the reason ?? .. will all US national team wannabes in future be expected to speak 3 or 4 languages ?? .. once selected will the US team undergo intensive foreign language instruction ?? .. incidentally the same ref, Haimoudi, had the Socceroos in their match against Netherlands and ..
Bresciano added that he had no concerns over Algerian referee Djamel Haimoudi, who will be officiating his first World Cup finals match.
.. he did yellow card our Numero Uno Socceroo, Tim Cahill, so maybe it was just a language problem ..
