Seek word

I know it as well as my own name, which at my advanced age I'm also not sure of sometimes. It means fostering or provoking further inquiry or research and possibly it's derived from some fellow of historical significance

Re: Two sentences

Emphasizing the importance of context is a "Pearls" strip in which Zebra says to Pig, "Ohh, Pig....I feel terrible. I hit a squirrel driving my car," whereupon Pig asks, "Why'd you let him drive your car in the first place?"

Re: Two sentences

1. Much colloquial English with dangling modifier depends for its meaning on context. If "since" means because, then Schwarzy's comment could mean that had he not been elected the same disaster could not be considered the worst yet. She had refused sex with Bob since he was her father 2. I can't fin...

Bill hates us

This morning Bill Gates had replaced the Google (?) taskbar "Check" with somethig labeled "Home." Trust you aren't in the habit of using the former because clicking on "Home" apparently deletes whatever happens to be on the screen I use "Bill Gates" as an icon or symbol for everything stupid and inc...

quisquilian

quisquilian (kwis-KWIL-ee-uhn) adjective Worthless, trifling. When I asked Laverne what the term brings to mind she replied "It's the name of someone who writes books" I would have assumed it referred to the feather dropped from a bird under attack by its flock for some kind of avian transgression

Re: f* jew bastard

Erik: I was merely expressing bewilderment that the incident hasn't been exploited by the politicos in this milleu of no-holds-barred attrition where a candidate is freely attacked not for something he himself did but by something his pastor says Russ: Of course I forgot to use quotes, which produce...

Re: f* jew bastard

When I Googled hillary f* jew bastard I got the quarter-million hits. Probably I'm misusing the "*" as various other entries give only a few thousand hits as you observe. Sometimes I'm baffled by the Google responses. Can anyone provide a lhink to the Google page explaining proper use of the wildcar...

f* jew bastard

Reports are rife that although she denies it Hillary had shouted this scurrilous phrase at a colleague. As it was news to me I was astounded to first learn of it in How to Talk to a Liberal by Ann Coulter; for if it were true, notwithstanding a quarter of a million Ghits I would expect the incident ...

Re: anthropodermic bibliopegy

It's not terribly important which forum the contributor uses, and that's why Phil's agreement to represent all forums in the Active Topics page was a was such a distinct improvement. Anyone using IIDB for instance must realize what a burden it must place upon the Admin type continually having to rea...

Re: Say it ain't so

For whatever it may be worth I see that I've achieved my objective, to get Ken's thread some response I am continually impressed by the relatively liberal slant of WW entertaining political and philosophical discourse. I have been permanently ejected from other such sites for digressions of prot0oco...
