Fire or sack someone

Hi guys! Is there a common idiom or a common fixed phrase to say instead of "sack or fire someone"? I mean "remove someone from a job, usually because they have done something wrong or badly"?

Hi everybody! "Keep up the good work" means "Please keep doing the good things that you are doing now. A general phrase of encouragement.". Is it considered rude to say it to people who are older than you?
