Hi everybody! When I'd like to say that prices are high, which one below sounds more correct?

1. Prices are on the steep side.
2. Prices are steep.

Fire or sack someone

Hi guys! Is there a common idiom or a common fixed phrase to say instead of "sack or fire someone"? I mean "remove someone from a job, usually because they have done something wrong or badly"?

Hi everybody! "Keep up the good work" means "Please keep doing the good things that you are doing now. A general phrase of encouragement.". Is it considered rude to say it to people who are older than you?
