Does anyone actually understand the primaries?

Hi Ken good to hear from you again. When you wrote, "...inform Mike Huckabee with one of your e-mail algorithms that he has withdrawn from the race..." I was completely baffled until I watched Washington Week this evening and learned that Huckabee hadn't checked out quite yet and so you'll have to f...

Does anyone actually understand the primaries?

Phil: Boy, you can say that again. Here in La-La Land we had an awful misfortune with the primaries where thousands if not hundreds of thousands got the wrong ballot. It's supposed to be that if you're a Red of course you get the Rep ballot but if you're Blue or refuse-to-state you get the Dem ballo...

PhilH (and Phil too for that matter): By no means can you describe yourself as amateur and certainly not very. After matriculating from the School of Journalism (U of I) and seven decades as the country's most resoundingly unpublished writer I could only wish for your depth of immersion in the Mothe...

Malpropisms and Spoonerisms

In another board like this one but perhaps not so liberal as WW (which however in the interest of minimizing internecine warfare I cloak in the pseudonym EtaSmog) Admin requested a contributor to delete a post considered in its rigorous protocol to be excessively political in undertone. Here was the...

Not same half revisited

Hi again Phil: Here I am again lonely relegated to the bottom of an archive wishing in my extreme conceit and vanity that this very timely thread might be switched to a forum listed on Home Page if only temporarily, say until the primaries are done with ] Can't wait for the new housekeeping to take ...

mike welcome back! and in answer to your latter question, as a confirmed pantheist I'm convinced such happenings are an Act of God. She answers our prayers too; however since this isn't a religious board I do invite anyone for a chat at dalehileman@verizon.net

PC to Mac

Is it any wonder all those around me are switching from PC to Mac Outlook also has the nasty habit of sending a file to the recipient before you’re done writing it. This occurs when you’re composing a reply to a correspondent’s message and you perform a save (Ctrl+S). But it also happens at various ...

Effect of one's name

Mama: Thank you again, well said. But in order for something to be labeled political, wouldn't it have to be slanted, which my discourse wasn't The burning what? In spite of my predilections for the Brew, the next thing popping out of my head is beating around something Re Obama, and you could cite ...

Effect of one's name

Hi Mama: Thank you for that but how can you assess your own subconscious attitudes In the past lawyers were not so reviled. In this day and age the perception owes to media dissemination of their activities Someone to whom I owe an allegiance and who is a much better judge of pulchritude than I but ...

Effect of one's name

Note to Admin:: I will understand if you can't use it as it has a slight though unbiased political implication, yet might qualify by its concern with the effect of his name on a candidate's success. Or if you deem it in the wrong forum, feel free to switch it to another (though I'd be delight if it ...

In view of the upcoming primaries I felt compelled to bubble up this Letter to the Editor Note to Admin: Yes, perhaps it's excessively political but thought our participants might find it amusing anyhow for what I claim is its colorful phrasing but if you feel it doesn't belong in this forum feel fr...

Bob: You're quite right http://grammartips.homestead.com/toetheline.html Incidentally someone dear and of superior discernment who nonetheless demurs from the strictly academic and deplores my participation in forums but whom I dare not identify for rasons of Umbrage and Conformity, agrees (do I cou...
