Re: talking loudly and using bad language

Also, as Shelly has pointed-out, the use of a comma can add clarity.
If you insert a comma into a., " They were being disrespectful, talking loudly, and using bad language.", then in the list each behavior stands alone.

Nobody loves me but my Mother, and she could be jivin' too.
Lyrics, and how we hear them, can be funny.
Only recently have I stopped wondering who the hell "Leslie" is in the song "Groovin'".

...a felicitous turn of events that your vacuum works again. One of the highlights of my day included the Shark (vacuum) which my wife decided needed to be run on the first-floor. I jumped up from the other highlight of my day, reading Unoffendable by Brant Hansen, to move every obstacle from her va...

Re: copacetic / copasetic / copesetic

For anyone who has installed trim or done finish-work in interior woodworking(wdwrkng), this word will resonate with rich meaning: when you cope an inside-corner-joint, and it fits snugly, looking for all the world like a miter, it is "copacetic", for sure. The aesthete's aesthetic's proven when his...

Re: Happy Christmas!

Looks like a GREAT neighborhood. I look forward to seeing a picture of the leaves. Our American Sycamore, when quartersawn, yields flashiness not as flashy as "lacewood"(Roopola Brasillensis), but flashier than your beechwood(Fagus sylvatica), which is/was used a lot as a secondary-wood in drawers a...

I assumed that it was Bob's work.
Certainly the tree is in captivity within that gated-wall.
The structure - but not the bark - reminds me of a sycamore. Are they called plane trees over there?

Of course to most, your writing that you'd like to thank others is the same as your actually thanking them.
Excellent! I wonder if it will work the same way when I wish to win the lottery?

Re: Happy Christmas!

The structure looks like honey locust. I'd like to figure out what it is. Do you know what kind of leaf it has?
If you don't care, that's fine; at least you appreciated it and the snow!!
Thanks for the nice picture.
