Re: Hob

My cabin cookstove "hob" offers a variety of cooking options. You can grill on the flat surface above the oven, with its varying heats, or you can cook in a pan on one of the plates, which plates can be lifted off and the pot set directly over the fire.
I'd say you have one hob and four plates.

Re: since I have lived in Boston

The American vernacular doesn't include "in hospital" in any case. Of course we'd understand what it means, but none of us would say or write it.

Re: anyone who saw

Yes, quite serious. It's "peel" here.
Especially among those of us with "one foot on the banana-peel".

Re: very tall and strong

If it is a "speaker" you are writing about, and not a writer, then the tones and cadence would convey as much information as context would. Since it is the written-form about which you ask, all your questions remain, and added explanations would be necessary, if you want absolute clarity for the rea...

Re: rabble-rouser

I'm not sure what version was being looked-at "many years ago", but the KJV and NIV and Zondervan Greek Interlinear don't have rabble in Acts 17. "Rabble" appears twice in the NIV Old Testament, though...and of course, that is not necessarily the term in the original or early copies. What version we...
