Thanks for your replies, Ken - most interesting! Do you think there's any significance to the American version being 'back on the ranch', while the British appears to be 'another part of the island'?!

Meanwhile, on another part of the island...

Anyone know where this overused phrase was first coined? Everyone I ask has a different guess! I'd appreciate a certain answer as this has been driving me crazy for some time now.
