Re: Peachy

When I was a kid, "coloured" covered a multitude, and did it effectively,
In the same way that "blonde" or"bald did.

They look like pizzas to me not pies but I could be wrong.

For what it is worth, I agree with you Tony.
I wouldn't allow "monkey" and "monkeys" either.

Neologism - volunteeriat

I was at a political meeting last night. One of the speakers gave us a word, which he said was Catalan, to describe the army of volunteers that is required to do almost anything these days. A group of volunteers - The VOLUNTEERIAT. I think it is brilliant.

I wouldn't use either, and would raise my eyebrows if anyone said it to me.

I would say, "temporary"!
It certainly wouldn't last long.

He was hoist by his own petard is fine.
I have never heard "He got blown up by his own bomb" used as a colloquialism.

Re: Finger food for thought

Welcome back to politics, although strangely enough, I am quietly retiring myself and by September of 2019 I plan to have no public life at all. As I remind people, I chaired my first meeting when I was 23 and in September next year I will be 72½. Feet up time.
