Thanks for the quick reply. I am far from an etymologist but I do enjoy words. In my quest for information on "erythemal" I did find this forum and an interesting quiz at http://www.etymologic.com/ which may be old hat to forum members here.

In the medical world an erythemal response is the reddening or pinkening of the skin caused by radiation typically by UV light when treating diseases such as psoriasis. In a Jeopardy show recently on TV the country name Eritrea was linked to the Red Sea. What's the connection here?
